The three witches play a significant role in Macbeth’s life: they are the personification of his ambitions. Probably if he does not meet the witches he will never kill the King. They are responsible for Macbeth’s accession to the throne and his decay. The witches also give a supernatural connotation to the play and capture reader’s interest. | |
