Exercise A

 

This armchair's very old, but it's comfortable.

1) I think philosophy is very difficult, but it's interesting.

2) London is big, but very easy to visit thanks to the underground or "Tube".

3) My moped is very slow, but it gets me around.

4) Dogs are demanding on your time, but they are very good company.

5) Tropical marine fish are very pretty, but a bit difficult to keep in an aquarium.

 

Exercise B

 

A: Has Kirsty gor many relations?

B: No, she hasn't got many.

C: Yes, she has! She's got a lot!

 

A: Has she got much make-up on?
B: No, she hasn't got much.

Exercise D

 

I love Euro Disney near Paris because there are so many attractions there.

1) Sorry, but I can't come out this afternoon. I've got so many things to do.

2) There aren't  many pandas living in China today.

3) Thank you a lot for a fantastic holiday!

4) "Is there any yoghurt in the fridge?" "No, there isn't a lot".

5) My grandma doesn't like street markets because there is much noise.

6) Dad's so busy that he hasn't got much time for me.

 

Exercise E

 

Few people visit that museum because it isn't very interesting.

1) Elle is going to live in Berlin soon. She has a few friends there.

2) My grandad is bored now he's retired because he's got a little to do.

3) We've got little money left, so we can have a pizza this evening.

4) I only take a little sugar in my tea, but a lot in my coffee.

5) There are few things I like more than staying in bed late on Sunday.

There are too many mopeds in this street.

4) Amy is a perfectionist. She says that two mistakes are to much.

5) Too many cooks spoil the broth.

Exercise C

 

1) It's too early to go to bed.

2) It's too much windy to walk.

3) They are too much young to get married.

4) There are too many people to play tennis.

5) There are too much traffic to use the car.

6) It's too far to get a good view.

 

Exercise D

 

A place is overcrowded when there are too many people.

1) An office is understaffed when there are too many people working in it.

2) When food is salty there is too much salt in it.

3) If a person smokes like a chimney, the person smokes too much.

4) People are overweight when they eat to many sweet things and fats.

5) If you can't afford something you've got too little money to buy it.

6) A country is over-populated when there are too few resources to feed the population.

 

Exercise E

 

Wallis: Tony, Jake and I are spending a week in Tanya's flat in Tropea.

Jordan: Lucky you! It's a nice flat.

Wallis: How many rooms are there?

Jordan: Not many. Just one bedroom, plus the kitchen and bathroom, of course.

Wallis: I can sleep on the floor! What about the kitchen?

Jordan: It's large, and there's lots of equipment and a huge fridge, too.

Wallis: Do you think there are enough sheets and blankets?

Jordan: There are a few, but take some with you.

Wallis: Tell me about the beaches.

Jordan: There are lots and the sea is really clean.

Wallis: Are there any problems in having a holiday there?

Jordan: Very few. The long distance to Tropea is the only difficult.

 

Exercise A

 

The jumper is a medium size. Is it large enough for you?

1)Oh, dear! We haven't got enough tomatoes for a Bolognaise sauce.

2)I'm sorry, but you aren't old enough to go out on your own at night.

3)"Why doesn't Ted buy a station wagon?" "Because he hasn't got enough space in his garage".

5)I'm afraid our favourite horse isn't running fast enough to win the race.

7)Do you yhink Jack's got enough qualifications to get the job?

8)Are the instructions clear enough to assemble the bookshelf?

 

Exercise B

 

We haven't got enough bread for the toast.

1)It's quite hot today. Let's go to the swimming pool.

2)Have you got enough roast beef, or would you like some more?

3)There isn't enough time to finish the game now. Let's continue this evening.

4)Those T-shirts are quite cheap. Can I have two, please?

5)The tunnel isn't high enough for a truck to travel through.

6)That's rather! Stop it now, please!

7)You're quite right. Bruce is a liar.

8)Robert is quite different from his brother in everything.

9)This dishwasher doesn't wash rapidly enough.

10)"Quite" is difficult enough!

 

Exercise C

 

Sean and Mary Ann are on holiday in the States and they love Bob Marley's music. Sean is only 18, so he's too young to go to the disco. Mary Ann's 21, so she's old enough for the Reggae Night, but she hasn't got enough money for the ticket.

 

Max and Alie are touring northern France in their caravan. Today the weather's bad and the wind is too strong for them to use this road because it is not protected enough. The wind can be too strong to blow a caravan over, especially if the driver goes too fast.

 

Alan, aged 13, and Sarah, aged 18, are walking on the beach. Alan is a good swimmer. Sarah can't swim too well to go into the water and she is young enough to be left on the beach alone. The beach is not safe enough for Sarah and the sea is too dangerous for Alan.
