- We love helping children do creative activities. We do drawing and painting and when necessary we help children do their homework. We plan make calendars and plant pots this year, two interesting activities that also help children learn about time and seasons, and about basic biology.

•I-                  Dr Harper, are you worried about the popularity of video games with teenager today?

•II-               A little, yes. If people play video games for just a couple of hours a week, there's no problem. But when they need to play them every day for hours, this is an addiction. It's one thing to like playing them, another to need to play them.

•I-                  So what are the signs of an addiction?

•II-               If a person stops to go out with friends, this is an important sign. Look for a person who wants to spend a lot of time alone and who likes staying at home all day. Another problem is when a person can't concentrate. Look for students who stop to listen in class, who start getting physically agitated and restless quickly. Obviously their homework and grades generally suffer too.

•I-                  What other signs are there?

•II-               People tend to eat badly. They try to get away from the table quickly. They don't pay attention when you speak to them and have difficulty to make conversation.

•I-                  What do you advise family and friends doing if they suspect an addiction?

•II-               I suggest to take to the person about it, and trying to make them see the problem. If this doesn't work, I advise the family to make an appointment with an expert who can evaluate the situation.

As a child I wanted to be a ballet dancer. I was convinced that I was having a great talent. My mother was telling me to keep studying too. She wanted me to be a journalist. I took ballet lessons every day and I used to spend all my money going to the theatre. I was thinking that studying was a waste of time. One day when I was going to ballet class on the bus, the road was blocked. A TV journalist was interviewing people about a recent accident. I watched from the bus , absolutely fascinated. While I was watching I realised that I didn't want to be a ballet dancer at all. I wanted to become a TV journalist. My mother was delighted.
