The last chapter of the book brings a conclusion, the inability of the two protagonists to communicate. It also provides the reader information about Edward's future and some information about Florence's future.

The main difference between him and Florence is that Edward tried ‘to love again' whereas Florence refuse that, shutting herself in the music.
