Chesil Beach is in the Dorset county, in the south west of England.
Its toponym is derived from the Old English ceosel or cisel, meaning "gravel" or "shingle".
It's 18 miles long, 660 ft wide and 50 ft high.
Chesil Beach is an UNESCO world heritage site.
It separates the sea and the lagoon behind it.
