FZanaboni - Eveline - Analisi Strutturale

In my opinion, the novel is organized into three parts:

  • The first part gives the reader an image, a kind of a portrait of what is going on in the first lines.

  • The second part is a kind of a "bridge" between the first part and the conclusion; moreover the second part is a continuous flow of thoughts by Eveline. In this part is introduced Eveline's background from Eveline's point of view. Due to the length of the second part if compared to the other two, the novelist has more possibilities to leave Eveline free to think of her life as a whole. In detail, she thinks about:
  • - her childhood
  • - the difficult relationship with her father (alcoholism, prohibition to see Frank, domestic violence, administration of her salary, etc.)
  • - her job
  • - her meeting with Frank
  • - the promise she made to her mother

  • The third part shows the dramatic end because it presents to the reader Eveline's reaction and begin of action, though she "decides" not to leave and live with Frank.
