Eveline is a young women that lead a very hard life, for her only 19 years, for the reasons:
of the deaths of her mother and her brother Ernest and because she has to carry the family on. She works and attends to her brother and her violent father. The only way to escape from this unhappy situation is to follow Frank, her boyfriend and sailor who promises to take her with him to Buenos Aires. At the beginning, even though upset, she is determined to go away but at the last moment at the dock where she and Frank are ready to embark on a ship together, Eveline is deeply conflicted and makes the painful decision.... .
This story is short and easy to read but also very sad. People are recommended for reading Eveline for the protagonist's conflict, the necessity to go away but even the sadness to be in need of leaving home and the memoirs of happy times spend, however all, with her family and more the knowing not to be able to do otherwise.
