Eveline is sitting at the window, she recalls her childhood, realizing that so much has changed in her life. Now she is going to leave her home but she wonders herself whether going away is a good decision: She stood up in a sudden impulse of terror. Escape! She must escape!

This is the topic of a short story by James Joyce which belongs to the collection of stories called Dubliners. Eveline is the short story's name and also the main character's name; it tells a life story with the prevalence of not acting, unhappiness, weakness and indecision. A short story with the typical  unease of women at the beginning of the twentieth century.
