In my opinion people should read Eveline as I did.
Eveline is a short story written by James Joyce and published in September 1904.
The short story deals with a joung woman trapped in everyday life and by the traditional roles of Catholic women in Ireland from which she dreams of escaping.
Joyce uses the short story for focussing on a woman's point of view with a new degree of intimancy.
Eveline is wholly centred on Eveline's thoughts and feelings, on her apparent need to escape; through her memories the writer try to convey her inhability and the reasons of her indecision.
The story is perfect in every detail: in the language and in the narrative tecnique used, which gives the reader the impression of being into the scenes described, of making the same questions that Eveline makes herself, of having the same doubs she has and at the end the reader is free to speculate about Eveline's future, about Eveline and Frank's future.
In spite of its intensivily it's very coincise, the narrative time is only of a few hours, we follow the thoughts that cross Eveline's mind very naturally and spontaneously, we are not getting bored.
