Exercise 1 page 103
- a) Hamlet compares his father's portrait and his uncle's one. In the comparison he underlines the physical differences between the two brothers. Describing the physical appearance he makes the reader understand the different nature of the two characters.
- b) Hamlet criticizes his mother for her marriage to an inferior husband.
- c) His mother reflects herself in Hamlet's words and so she wants him not to speak more.
Exercise 2 page 105
- a) Hamlet associates his father to gods like Jove, March, Mercury and Hyperion to describe his noble look. He uses bad words to describe the worthlessness of his uncle.
- b) The predominant imagery is of justice and sexual disgust.
