Exercise 1 p. 103
a) In the first scene from act third Hamlet compares his father and his uncle.
He wants to convey the idea that his father was a man of great values and for that reason he compares his father to some of the most important gods; on the contrary he attacks and criticizes his mother because she married his uncle.
b) When reproaching his mother, Hamlet criticize her for her marriage to an inferior husband's .
Exercise 2 p. 105
a) Hamlet uses the comparison with some gods to convey his father noble looks; he had : "Hyperion's curls", "the front of Jove himself", "an eye like Mars", "a station like the herald Mercury".
b) The image of nature and sexual disgust are predominant in Hamlet's accusation against his mother.
c) The main feelings conveyed in Hamlet's words are: shame, hatred, disgust, scorn and indignation; the feelings expressed by the mother are: sadness, indignation.
