Reading the first scene of third act the reader can understand that Shakespeare was influenced by the classics.
At the beginning of the extract there are the first examples that shows the reader this influence: he describes his father's portrait and for each part of it he associates a similar connected to mythology.
As a matter of fact, mythology was a basic element of classic culture.
In the scene are quoted Hyperion, a titan who ruled the sun, Jove, the king of gods, Mars, god of war and Mercury, the winged messenger of the gods, used to represent swift and graceful.
All this similar are useful to make the reader understand that Hamlet's father was a man of great values.
Hamlet speaks also of a "devil that thus hath cozen'd you at hoodman-blind"; the devil is a figure reoccurs in mythology and hat contributes to show the influence of classicism.
