Hamlet shows to his mother two portraits: the first one belongs to his dead father and the second one to his his unle who is now the king. Hamlet wants underline the values of his father. He compares him with Greek divinities like Jove, Mars or Mercury. For each part of the portrait he associates a metaphor. So Hamlet gives impotrtance to his father.

After that he shows to his mother the other portrait where his uncle is represent. Hamlet criticezes him and asks his mother how she could stay with such despicableman.
