Exercise 1

Hamlet compares two portrait: his father's portrait and the portrait of his uncle. In his                             comparison he points out several differences about behaviour, qualities and values.

Hamlet criticises his mother for her marriage to an inferior husband.

Exercise 2

a)

Hamlet uses mythological associations to describe his father's noble looks:  he compares his father to Greek divinities like: Hyperion, Jove, Mars and Mercury. Hamlet uses simple metaphors to describe his uncle's worthlessness.

Scorn, hatred, indignation and disgust are mainly conveyed in Hamlet’s feelings.
