Textuality » 4A Interacting
We are analysing the first scene from act third from Hamlet by Shakespeare.
In this scene we can notice the influence of classicism in Shakespeare's works.
We know that during Renaissance classic works, composed by Latin and Greek authors, were recuperated.
So writers began to express their messages through the values of the ancient classic world.
Example:
In the first scene from act third Hamlet refers to ancient classic gods. In the first lines he compares his dead father with them. But they belongs to classicism.
Shakespeare decides to associate Hamlet's father with them because he wants to underline mainly the importance of him (for example that he was a person of great value, that he was a good fighter and that he was a man of high reputation).
