EX 1 PAG. 103

 

 

A) Hamlet compares two pictures: his father's portrait and the portrait of his father's brother.

 In his comparison he points out differences of aspect between the two brothers. It follows that he refers also to the different personalities and behaviours of the two brothers.

 

B) Hamlet criticizes her mother for her marriage to an inferior husband.

 

C) His mother doesn't want Hamlet to speak more because she understand that he is right in all that he tells her.

 

EX 2 PAG. 105

 

 

A) Hamlet uses mythological associations to describe his father's noble looks:  he compares his father to Greek divinities like: Hyperion, Jove, Mars and Mercury. Hamlet uses simple metaphors to describe his uncle's worthlessness. He uses some really significant  words  and it must be said  they are only bad words.

 

B) What kind of imagery is predominant in his accusations against his mother? =  justice.

 

C) What feelings are mainly conveyed in Hamlet's words? = scorn, hatred, indignation and disgust.

 

D) What feelings are mainly conveyed in the Queen's words? = shame, remorse and sadness.
