HAMLET'S TO BE OR NOT TO BE

The soliloquy starts with the question "to be or not to be". Shakespeare chosen to be because it is synonymous of existing. Existing means that we don't just live but we also think and we have culture and this is the main reason of we distinguish from animal's world. Furthermore Shakespeare chosen the infinitive form of to be because Hamlet is talking about himself but like a metaphor of human being. To be refers to the action, ‘to exist' and ‘not be' refers to inaction, as a matter of fact we could live without existing and live only to survive.
