1.

a)-The young lady's countenance, which had before worn an almost livid look of hatred, assumed a smile that perhaps was scarcely more agreeable.

-Miss Sedley was almost as flurried at the act of defiance as Miss Jemima had been.

-Miss Sedley was exceedingly alarmed at this act of insubordination.

b)I would describe the state of mind of the two girls as nervous and defiant worried.

2.

a)-"I hate the whole house"

-"I hope I may never set eyes on it again. I wish it were in the bottom of the Thames"

The reasons of these feelings  towards the house are the hate for Miss Pinkerton.

b)-"How could you do so, Rebecca?"

-"O Rebecca, Rebecca, for shame!" cried Miss Sedley.

-"How can you-how dare you have such wicked, revengeful thoughts?"

c)The adjectives which describe Rebecca's personality the best are revengeful and impulsive.

The ones for Amelia's personality are gentle and conformist.

3.

a)The narrator is a voice outside the story.

b)The episode is about a dream told by an old man. In my opinion i think it is meant as a justification for Amelia's reaction.

c)The adjective "heroical" is used ironically.

d)The reader is not free to judge characters because the narrator influences him with his own comments.
