When James I accessed to the throne, the situation between the Parliament and the monarchy changed: the main point of this hostility was when the king Charles I was executed in 1649.

 

LITERATURE:

Literature works have been influenced by the tensions born of this period.

The most important themes for the poets of this period were God and a new vision of love: the idea of metaphysical love.

 

SCIENCE:

Also science has been characterized in the 17th century thanks to a lot of scientific discoveries: new instruments and machinery were born.

 

JOHN MILTON -  Paradise Lost:

John Milton was one of the most important poets in England during the 17th century. His most famous and important work is Paradise Lost, it is based on the Bible, and it is about Heaven, Hell, Adam and Eve's creation and their lost.
