Shakepeare's Poetic Style:

Shakespeare's verses written in Iamic Pentameter

Shakespeare's poetry is not regulars. he makes sure that the rhythm of the verse is appropiate to the meaning and the mood of the speach.

*      OTHELLO: Iago speaks in end-sopped lines, to allow the audience to focus on what Iago sais

*      ROMEO and JULIET: written in blank verse: unrhymed Iambic Pentameter. Also run-on line ( called enjambement)

*      HAMLET and MACBETH:  written in blank-verse and Iambic Pentameter: the alteration of stressed and unstressed syllabus

                                                              

*      HAMLET:  fewer  end-stopped lines: when a caesura ends a lines.
