BROOKLYN - COLM TOIBIN

Last summer I read "Brooklyn" by Colm Toibin. Despite it may sounds a simple story of immigration, it shows many aspects of Ireland in the hard following years after Second World War, with an elevated sense of humor.
Although the book might seem too long for native readers, I'm sure everybody will enjoy Toibin's masterpiece. Readers will surely appreciate adventures. It provides a wonderful example of an Eilis's suffocated struggle for survivor. She emigrates from Enniscorthy to reach America, the country of dreams. Here, she will have different surprises from the pleasant to the most horrible ones, and, at least, she will find her own balance. You can follow che protagonist's feelings, included her intrigued love story.
That's why I strongly recommend to read the book and let me know.
