This is a novel about an Irish girl, Eilis Lacey, who has to move in New York because of scarce oportunities in her hometown. She is very attached to her mother and sister and shy, so, the intelligent reader may ask himself how does a girl with certain values and these character traits, accept a disadvantageous job without feeling homesick? One moved to America, her personality will be distorted by the love of Tony, a young man. She will became a busty woman, clearing the young girl she has been. 

"Brooklyn" is a medium low level novel characterized by conversations out of place, unrealistic situations and a main character who betrays all the good values and feelings.
