BOOK REVIEW
TITLE: Ulster Story.
The title Ulster Story suggests the setting of the novel: it is set in Ulster, a small province of Northern Ireland.
It is organized into 8 chapters and each one hasn’t got lots of pages, for this reason it is a novel fast to read.
The language is simple, there are lots of details and discussions among characters are reported by direct speeches.
The novel makes the reader reflect on the meaning of religion which is a contemporary like topic.
More over the novel takes place during the period of division between Catholics and Protestants in Northern Ireland.
The main characters are Patrick Connelly and Linda Murray. They are two teenagers: Patrick is Catholic and Linda is Protestant, they fall in love. Their love is considered impossible there, considering the division between Catholics and Protestants.
The story is about the impossible love between this two teenagers that belong to different cultures.
At the end the love will triumph.
The message conceived by the novel is that love always triumphs, and cultural differences can’t overcome feelings.
