 Ex. 2 Completa le notizie giornalistiche con una parola in ogni spazio.

The summer holidays are just about to start, but not all the pupils are going to spend the time at home or at the beach. Many teenagers use the holidays to earn extra cash. For example, Hannah’s going to work in a supermarket for six weeks. “I’m working this summer to earn some money for a trip”, she explains. “ My friends and I are going  to Thailand next year, so I need to start saving.

Local teenager James Adams  is  going to appear on the UK’s  most population talent show. “I’m really pleased!” he said. James is taking part of the show next month, so he has a few weeks to practice his song. “ I’m going to sing one song  by Robbie Williams and another by Bruno Mars. I think the judges will like them.”

Work is about to start to start on the new railway station in the north of the city. The station will open at the end of the year. Not all local residents are pleased about it. ‘ I’m worried about all the cars that are going to come down our streets’, Mrs Wood told me . ‘ And I’m sure lots of people will park here’.

This year Science festival will be on 9th March and even on 22th. March. It is going to be even bigger  than last year’s  festival, with even more events.

Professors from university are going to give talks and other members of staff will run workshops.


 

 

Ex. 3 Completa i dialoghi con l’ alternativa corretta.

1)    A= Hi, Bianca. Are you doing anything tonight?

       B= yeah. I’m going to see a film with Hans and Cindy.

       A= what are you going to see?

       B= we’re not sure. We’re deciding when we get to the cinema. We’re meeting outside the ABC cinema at 7.00 if you want to  come with us.

       A= thanks I’m seeing Carlo tonight. I’ll call you tomorrow.

       B= great. Talk to you then!

2)    A= I need to ask Mrs Newton something about my assignment .

       B= I do, too. I’m going to make an appointment with her for Thursday or Friday afternoon.

       A= are you? I’ll make one with her, too, then.

       B= good idea. Shall we see if she’s in the staff room now?

       A= yes, let’s. We need to hurry. Our nest lesson will start in ten minutes.

3)    A=are  you doing anything this weekend?

       B=yes, I’m going to York.

       A= that’s nice. I like York. What are you doing there?

       B= my sister lives there. It will be her birthday on Saturday, so she’s having a party. My brother’s going, too.

       A= how are getting there? Are you driving?

       B= no, we’re going by train. There’s a train on Friday afternoon.

       A= anyway, are you being here on Sunday evening? I was thinking we could see a film or something.

       B= I don’t think I’ll be able to, I’m afraid. We’ll probably get back late  on Sunday evening. But if we’re back in time, I’ll let you            now.

       A= OK, great. Have a good time and say ‘ happy birthday’  to your sister for me.

       B= I will.

 

Ex 4. Decidi se la previsione è fondata su dati presenti nel momento o su una sensazione o un’ opinione personale. Poi completa i dialoghi con l’ alternativa corretta.

1)    A=It’s very busy here today.

       B= I know. There are so many cars! We’re not going to find anywhere to park in the town centre.

2)    A=we’re going to see the Giotto exhibition on Friday.

       B= oh, you are going to love it. It’s amazing.

3)    A=that piece of scenery doesn’t look very safe, does it?

       B=yeah, it looks like it’s going to fall off the stage.

4)    A=Oh no! It’s started raining and I haven’t got an umbrella.

       B= well, in case we’re going to get wet then.

5)    A= I don’t know  how to use the photocopier .

       B= why don’t  you ask Luke? Maybe he’ll be able to help you.

       A= does the restaurant have any vegetarian dishes?

       B= I’ve no idea , but I’m sure they’ll make you something if not.

 

Ex.5 Completa I dialoghi con la forma corretta dei verbi tra parentesi : present simple, present continuos, will, be going to.

 

1)    A=I don’t think I’ve got your phone number.

       B= really? OK, I’ll give it to you now.

2)    A=have you phoned for a taxi yet?

       B=no, I haven’t. I’ll do it in a minute.

3)    A= do want to go out on Saturday evening?

       B= sorry, I can’t. My grandparents are coming round for dinner.

4)    A= where are you going?

       B= to the shop. I’m going to get some coffee.

       A= I think we also need some bread.

       B= OK, I’ll get some bread  as well.

       A= be quick. It will close in about ten minutes.

5)    A= can you lend me 10 euros?

       B= sure, here you are.

       A= thanks. I’m going to pay you back tomorrow.

6)    A= why are you putting this old clothes on?

       B= I’m going to clean the windows.

       A= I’ll help you, if you like.

       B= thanks.

7)    A=it’s Bella’s birthday on Friday. We’ve organized a surprise party for her.

       B= don’t worry- I won’t tell her. But I think she is going out with her family on Friday evening.

       A= that’s OK. The party will be on Saturday, at my house.

 

       Ex. 6 Leggi i dialoghi e completali con l’ alternative corretta.

        

1)    A= Are you doing anything on Friday?

       B=yes. I’m seeing a band with Carla. They’re called The Change. Do you want to come?

       A= great. I’ll put it in my diary.

2)    A=there’s a documentary about the history of football on TV tonight.

       B= oh, I’ll tell Tony. He’s mad about football. What time is it on?

       A= it’s on at  7.30, I think. On Channel 5.

3)    A= are you going in holiday next summer?

       B= yes, we’re going in Ireland for two weeks. We’ve rented a cottage.

4)    A= hurry up! The film is about to start.

       B= OK, I’ll be there in one minute.

5)    A= do you fancy going for a pizza this evening?

       B=I can’t. I’m going out with Stephanie this evening. What about tomorrow? I won’t do anything tomorrow night.

6)    A= OK, tomorrow night, then. Shall we meet at Fratelli’s at about 7?

       B= OK, that sounds great.

 

Ex.7 Andy sta raccontando a Liz come trascorrerà il suo anno sabbatico prima di iniziare l’ università. Completa il dialogo con l’ alternativa corretta.

 

L=Hi, Andy. How are things?

A=Great, but I’m very busy at  the moment. I’m planning my gap year. L= Oh yes, I forgot  you were taking a year gap. What are you going to do?

A=Well, I’m going to Australia.

L=Lucky you! My sister’s over there at moment. She’s just about to come back, actually. I’m sure she’ll be able to give you some tips.  When are you going?

A=At the end of October. I’m working over the summer until then to earn some money.

L=And what are you going to do over there?

A=Well, first I’m going to spend a couple of weeks in Sydney. I’ve got a friend who lives there, so I’m going to stay with him and his family. And while I’m there, I’m going to the Blue Mountains for a few days. They’re not very far from Sydney. After that, I’m going to travel by bus across the country to Perth. It’s something I’ve always wanted to do . I think it’ll take me about a month.

L=Sounds great. Have you already booked places to stay or are you going  to look for places as you go?

A=I’m going to find somewhere once I get to each place. I don’t think I’ll have any trouble- there are lots of cheap hotels. But even so, I think it’s going to be a bit of an adventure.

L=Yeah, I think you’ll have a great time. And what are you going to do in Perth?

A=Well, I’m going to spend Christmas with my aunt and my uncle, who live over there. And then I’m going to work in a hotel. The job will start in January . And I’m also finding time to enjoy the Australian summer, of course. I’m going to learn to surf when I’m there.

L=And when are you coming back?

A=In July. Just in time for the summer back here.
