Third person imperative - test 1, exercise 1
Read what you must or mustn't do at school. Make imperatives.
Example:
You must do your homework. - Do your homework!
You must listen to your teachers. = Listen to your teacher !
1) You mustn't be noisy.=Don’t be noisy!
2) You mustn't cheat.=Do not cheat !
3) You must sit at your desk.= Sit at you desk!
4) You mustn't be late. Don’t be late!
5) You must write tests.= Write tests!
6) You mustn't bully your classmates.= Do not bully your classmates!
7) You must pay attention.= Pay attention!
Third + first person imperative sentences - test 2, exercise 2
Rewrite the sentences in imperative. Keep the same meaning.
Example:
You can't step on the grass. - Don't step on the grass.
We must revise some new words. - Let's revise some new words.
1) He should have a job. =Let him have a job !
2) We mustn't stop now.=Do not let us stop now!
3) You must go to bed.= Go to bed !
4) You should get up early.=Get up early !
5) You mustn't stand here.=Don’t stand here!
6) She can have a drink.=Let her have a drink !
7) They must clean the carpet.=Let them clean the carpet!
8) We needn't wait for him.=Let’s not wait for him !
9) We must have a shower first.=Let’s have a shower first !
10) You can't park in this street.=Don’t park in this street !
11) You must be here soon.=Be here soon !
12) They should taste this cake.=Let them taste this cake !
Third + first person imperative sentences - test 2, exercise 3
Rewrite the imperatives in statements. Use the verbs in brackets.
Example:
Go away. (must) - You must go away.
Let's have a look. (should) - We should have a look.
1. Do be quiet. (must) = You must be quiet.
2. Let me finish it first. (would like)= I’d like to finish it first.
3. Repair your roof. (should) = You should repair your roof.
4. I'll dust the furniture and you hoover. (can - can) = I can dust the furniture and you can hoover.
5. Let's not go on foot. (should not)= We shouldn’t go on foot.
6. Drive slowly, will you? (must)= You must drive slowly.
7. Don't be angry. (mustn't)= You mustn’t be angry.
8. Hurry up. (must)=You must hurry up.
9. Let them make an experiment. (can)= They can make an experiment.
10. Do not touch the screen. (must not)=You must not touch the screen
11. Do not let us worry about it. (need not)= We needn’t worry about it.
12. Let us see them tomorrow. (could)=We could see them tomorrow.
13. Come to my birthday party, will you? (must)= You must come to my birthday party.
Imperative sentences (polite requests) - test 3, exercise 4
Example:
Give me a hand. - Give me a hand, will you?
Let's join them. - Let's join them, shall we?
1. Give it to your mum.= Give it to your mum, will you ?
2. Let us forget about it.=Let’s forget about it, shall we ?
3. Let's think about it.= Let’s think about it, shall we ?
4. Be kind to her.=Be kind to her, will you ?
5. Let us have a break.=Let’s have a break, shall we ?
6. Take the car to the garage.= Take the car to the garage, will you ?
Use do or you and the words in brackets to make urgent imperatives.
Example:
You are still standing! (sit down) Do sit down!
Why should I tidy it? (do) You do it!
1. I don't have my credit card. (pay) != You pay!
2. You needn't be afraid of the exam. (try it) ! = Do try it!
3. I'm not going to inform her. (tell) ! = You tell her.
4. Why should I carry the luggage? (take it) != You take it!
5. Why don't you want my money? (take it) ! Do take it!
6. You are so noisy! (be silent) ! Do be silent!
