The English Renaissance was a cultural and artistic movement that developed around 16th and 17th century, between Middle Ages and Humanism.
During this movement, human being understood that the material aspects of life, like passions or feelings, were as important as religion; so the sense of life could not be confined in religion salvation and the answers to human questions were find in classics: they had a pragmatic vision of life and the Gods personified human values. Indeed, this movement is called Renaissance, that means the rebirth of the Classics.
In regard to this, literary genre, like poetry and drama, were used to communicate and investigate the interior conflicts of the human being.
