"Brooklyn" is a novel written by Colm Toibin in 2009. the story tells about Eilis Lacey and her life, the novel recountsabout her decisions,her fears and her dreams. I read the novel during summer and even if Eilis' story is set in 1950's I found many militarities with our times. The novel tells about departures,new starts,solitude,courage,sense of belonging and more important themes like immigration and family. The most important of that is immigration: nowadays many people leave their country and go abroad to find a job or to study other languages. Suchpeople, like Eilis, are probably confusedand scared but maybe reading this novel they can find the courage or the inspiration to follow their dreams and succeed. the style of the novel, like theme, is simple and smooth. Reading the novel is pleasent... I advise everyone who wants to be involved and inspired to read "Brooklyn"
