Why do contemporary teenagers like selfies?

First of all, I think contemporary teenagers do selfies because they consider it as a way to show themselves to the world. Secondly, young people do selfies because it is a trend and it is easy to post them in social networks. But not all teenagers do selfies, lots of guys do not do selfies because they think it is stupid, or they do not consider it as the best way to show themselves.
Doing selfies is a new phenomenon born in the last years. In the past, people used to take picture and not photos. In order to show themselves people had portraits taken. In order to be recognized people used arts like novel, theatre and fiction. Arts are an alternative to real life, it is construction by imagination and technical.
Now doing selfies gives the idea of us, it’s a way to be recognize among all the other people. We are humans and for this reason we need to be recognized. To conclude, I thing that doing selfies is the new way of communication.
