"Brooklyn" is a novel written by Colm Toibin.
I did not find it particularly interesting...
The novel is set in the 1950s partly in Ireland and partly in Brooklyn, through the journey of the protagonist, Eilis Lacey, who thanks to her sister Rose and a priest, Father Flood, find a job in the USA.
Firstly she feels very homesick but then she meets an Italian-American young man and falls in love.
Unfortunately, a tragedy forces her to go back home and her new life shifts.
Despite the theme of immigration, by differentemente people's in 1950s, is very interesting, Toibin did not talked about this topic as I expected, making a quite boring and banal story.
The reading is quite fluid but monotonous and with a very discounted ending.
