1. They feel forced to promote a strict of values because the victorians supported certain code of values which offered solutions or escape.
2. This code is refined by the upper and the middle class.
3. The code of values consist of: hard work, the idea of being respectable, attended the church, the family( the husband represented the authority, the woman's role consist in the education of the children and the managing of the house), famale chastity, sexuality was repressed .
4. The word "compromise" consist of in the idea that people had to lived in an age characterized by the progress, stability and social reforms but on the other hand they lived in a word characterized by poverty injustice and social unrest
