Dear Letizia,
how are you? I hope you are fine as me.
Thanks for your last letter, where you tell me about your future plans; you asked me if I have token a gap year and now I’m going to tell you all about this.
I took a gap year one year ago, from May to October and I went to New Zealand.
It cost around 4000 euro and it included travel costs, accommodation, food and entertainment.
I did voluntary work for an association, I taught Maths at junior school and I loved this experience and in the future I’m going to be already expert. I also went to school to learn new languages and something about the local’s culture; I improved my English and I did some text to check my knowledge.
Because I do rowing, I trained in a big society with the word rowing champions and it was very amazing, it was one of the most exited experience in my life; I learned a lot from them and in the future I will use their advice. I also tried to coach young athletes and I liked so much to pass on my knowledge to them.
Finally I have fun; I went to many amusement parks and I did a lot of adventure and outdoor activities for example kayaking, backpacking trips or riding.
I stayed in an apartment with my friend Irene.
This experience changed my life and my future plans; I learnt to organise my time and I became more independent.
This is all about my gap year. What about yours? Have you ever token a gap year? Where have you gone?
Write me soon and tell me.
Love
ILARIA
