Roman Britain

The following text is going to talk about the Roman invasion of Britain and the changes that the Latin culture brought to it.

The Britain conquer envolves the submission of some Celtic tribes, that, after little resistence, wanted asolutely to be Roman citizens.

The invasion started with Julius Caesar and it conscluded with the emperor Claudius, the aim was military prestige.

However, Britain was important for iron and slaves trade… for this reason was established near the river Thames one of the most important cities nowadays: London. From here started nets of roads, which were made by Romans for an easy communication with inner the localities.

It is important to say that the upper Celtic class sent his sons to Rome to learn the language and the culture, so it is wrong to assert that the Celtic people were barbarians, because they wanted to widen their horizon.

It was natural for the submissives to go on well with the Romans: they brought laws and legal system, aqueducts and they also let the Celts to practice their own religion.

Concluding, Roman and Celts melted together and the result was the British culture we can see nowadays: strong, powerful like the Roman culture and original like the Celtic one.
