I Look into my Glass

From the title, I expect the poem to be about someone's aspect, something about his face or his body that annoys the speaker voice.

The layout made me understand the text is a poem, because each line starts with a capitol letter, and it is arranged into three stanzas by the use of punctuation, with four lines each, in which is used the iambic pentameter. The title is the same as the first line of the poem, therefore I think this composition is part of a collection.

There are lots of words that belongs to the semantic field of the time, as the words: came to pass, grown, for then, endless, eve and noontide.

In the ninth line the word “time” is written with a capitol letter. The poet has made this decision to underline it and to make it visible to the reader. It represents a key word for the understanding of the poem.

I think, by the use of words connected with the time and that refer to something worn out and tired to live, the text may be about the oldness.

In the first stanza the speaker voice introduce the old age theme by the pretext of looking himself into his mirror and seeing his wasting skin. Then, in the second stanza it is introduced a meditation about the death, that the person waits with impatience and feels it near.

In the last stanza the subject of the lines is the time, that steals and lets part abide the last moments of life that remain to the speaker voice.
