Scheme pag.45

The scheme gives some information about the Celts, the first inhabitants of the British island.

From this graphic representation the reader can understand that at the beginning the Celts were divided into different clans dislocated along all the island, in particular near the coast.

They were about 1 million when they arrived and they inhabited that area but their life expectation was very short. Indeed most of the Celts lost one or both their parents by 15 because most of them died at the age of 35 - 40.

Moreover, from the scheme, you can know what were their habits as food, means of transport and currency.

Starting with the first topic, you can see that they had bread, stew, made with meat and garlic, porridge, made by wheat, and beer. All this products were the results of their agricultural activity, where they cultivate in particular cereals, that are more resistant to the weather of the area.

To move around the island, the Celts used to travel on foot, if they were poor and they didn't have the money to buy a chariot with the horses. Sometimes, mostly to cross the rivers, they made curraches that help them in the dangerous travels.

Finally the scheme shows the coins used during the beginning of the celtic occupation.

Each of them was coined by different rulers and they had a different value. Furthermore they changed through the time as it is evidenced by the coins reported in the scheme that represent the ones used during 10 AD, 40 AD and 41AD. You can see a different imagine on each coin and different initials.

The Celts look like a great population, quite developed, that had created her own rules and her own habits.
