Warning

Taking the title into consideration, I expect the poem may be about something dangerous, maybe a dangerous situation. The poem is arranged into four stanzas: the first has eleven lines, the second and the third are quatrets and the last is a tercet. The protagonist begins by starting a list of what she will do when she is old (spending the pension in brandy, dressing badly, ..) all things that a young man who keeps to himself does not. The poem proceeds with the list of what the protagonist dreams of doing when it is old, then stops. She says she is currently forced to dress well, pay rent, set a good example, ... She concludes by saying that she should perhaps start practicing so as not to shock others when she becomes old. There are many enjambements that have the purpose of linking two verses (gloves-and, bells-and, ..) and it is interesting to use the verb tenses: the use of the imperativ form indicates what society requires to be and this to which we must adapt. The message of this poem, in my opinion, is that we should do a little more what we like and not necessarily adapt to what society asks us, because we run the risk of not enjoying life.
