Text analysis of “She dwelt among the untrodden ways

1)Consider the title

Analyzing the title I expect to read about a girl or a woman who lives in places that are non crowded. Maybe in the text the poet is going to tell sonething about the ladies identity, the reason why she lives in this places, why people doesn’t frequent these ways and why the “She” is so important for him.

2)Consider layout

The text is a poem arranged into three quartines where the lines are different lenght

3)Structural analysis

Reading the text the reader understand that the “She” is a lady and there are very few who appreciate her. The function of the first stanza is to introduce the lady’s identity.

In the second stanza the poet introduce the beauty of the girl. Her beauty indeed is not apparent and immediatly visible but she is precious. The writer invites the reader to recognize the precious beauty of the girl, even if she is not apparently beauty. In particular, she is precious because is unic.

In the last stanza the poet write about their relationship. She was very important for him as the expression “oh” tells. This is an expression of the poet’s emotions.

The poetry ends with the consideration that the girl as died and now only a few people can appreciate her.

4)Carry out a connotative analysis

The language used is quite formal. At line five there is a methapor where the girl is compared to a violet to indicate her fragile beauty.
