The Sonnet 20 by William Shakespeare is one of his most famous poems.  The opening sentence, “A woman’s face, with Nature’s own hand painted”, establishes the sonnet’s theme: Shakespeare discusses the female beauty of the Fair Youth, the poem’s recipient. The poem is about how the Fair Youth was created. Shakespeare says it is painted by Nature to be like a woman, with a woman’s face and gentle heart, and beautiful eyes. But each of these attributes is without the downside that is found in a woman. Then Shakespeare states that the Youth attracts all men and all women  because of his beauty. FinallyShakespeare shows a distinction between the physical love a of a man and a woman, and the spiritual love he has for the Youth. The link between the Shakespeare and Wilde’s concept of beauty is that each of them consider handsome a man or pretty a woman if they reflect some  universal requirements which make them very attractive.
