In the present text, I am going to make some relations between the novel Normal People by sally Rooney and the photograph page 513 of my English book.

The picture was taken in 1945 and is titled “The end of Wold War II”. It is in black and white, which reminds me about Marianne and Connell’s personality: they are completely different, they only have in common their love of literature. Their social status is different, too. In high school Connell was really popular and at contrary Marianne was marginalised. Instead in college, she was the one everyone knew, and he was unpopular and with just Marianne as friend. Moreover, Marianne’s family is wealthy, and Connell’s is not, her mother is a housekeeper. They are like black and white, completely opposite. But they found each other despite prejudiced, they both have waited for the other. As the young girl in the picture has waited for his man to come back home after the horrible things the war brought.
