How you should develop/arrange/organize an argumentative text

• Illustrate and inform the reader of the thesis you are going to develop
• You have to provide explanations 
• Introduction: i am expected to explain aim, intention, thesis , procedures
• Different argumentations that have to be synthesized in a sequence

Quality and quantity data

Coherence: you have to develop a logical thread

Coesion: fluency of the text (depends on the way you use langage)

P. 208/209 Frankissstein

The bed becomes our lift raft. We are the shipwreck. 

To peel off = sfilare

To fetch = portare verso qualcuno

What is the narrator doing? What does the narrator offer the reader? 

First person narrator 

The paragraph sets the atmosphere of the scene. We are in a close space, inside Victor’s bedroom. 

Narratore testimone oculare e protagonista come in Robinson Cursoe 

Speaking voice through which we perceive the scene

He wants to share her feelings with the reader. 

Half-light 

La sensualità viene data dall’effetto che il toccare delle lenzuola provoca in lei -> posizione chiave. Coerenza e coesione.

Language of sense expression-> sexual atmosphere

Touch, taste, sight

Perché non comunica qualcosa di meccanico? Like a mother -> simile 

Attribuisce ad un maschio le funzioni femminili. Overlapping and going beyond genders.

La sagoma diventa sensuale perchè crea mistero

Desiderio costruito lentamente come un orgasmo visivo

Svelamento

Il mistero attiva il desiderio 

L’uomo fa le cose -> diverso dalle convenzioni

Costruisce un paragrafo per farci condividere un’atmosfera. Questa è adatta alala situazione che il narratore va a creare. Atmosfera ovattata. Idea del ritmo lento e attento.

Effetto tattile lenzuola -> coerenza -> his bed

È anche coesione perchè il paragrafo 1 termina con le stesse due parole con le quali inizia il paragrafo 2 

His bed-> è lui il centro

Letto = sineddoche di quel lui di cui lei si è innamorata

Uso metaforico dell’immagine che ci è restituita

La sineddoche è una sottovoce della metonimia (formula linguistica che restituisce un ambiente)

Se utilizzo sopratutto la metonimia piuttosto che la metafora avrò  un’idea materiale piuttosto che ideale

Letto = parte per il tutto (lui -> Victor)

Effetto di solidità. L’assenza crea desiderio. 

Lei toccando le lenzuola capisce i gusti che lui ha 

Typical Italian food 

International way of eating and drinking -> it sets them in a global world

They are confined in their room that will become their world

Sapore dell’internazionalità, qualcosa che varca i confini

It makes us a world -> metafora, rapporto totalizzante 

Il romanzo postmoderno ingloba le caratteristiche di quello moderno che era cosmopolita

Il ritornello dà unità. 

Dall’animato diventa una personificazione all’inanimato.

Desiderio di fusione come nel ventre della madre

Di solito è l’uomo che bacia la mano

Immagine dell’anello -> cerchio -> idea della perfezione -> Freud eterno ritorno dell’uguale
