How to write an argumentative text
In the present text, I am going to explain the methodological path to write a fluent argumentative text. I intend to proceed referring to the proper organization into paragraphs according to the structure of an argumentative text. Each paragraph plays a specific function and should be cohesive and coherent. First of all, the main body of the text starts with an introductory paragraph stating the thesis and the way the text will move forward. Secondly, it is important to refer to the subject of discussion and report quotations or data that inspired the discussion.
In order to produce a cohesive text, paragraphs should be introduced by connectors used to link ideas in a unified line of reasoning snd according to a logical thread. Last but not least, he conclusion draws the results of the discussion with the writer's personal considerations and the reassertion of the thesis.
Example of argumentative text In the present text, I am going to analyze page 208-209 from the Postmodern novel Frankissstein by Jeanette Winterson. In the pages, Ray feels protected and at he ease in Victor's house, especially in Victor's bed. I Now,I am going to proceed by explaining how the sensation is constructed by the writer and how Ry's feeling makes the text coherent and cohesive. In the starting paragraph, Victor is carefully undressing Ray, the writer uses the simile "like a mother" to describe such behavior. She also affirms she likes his bed because it is firm. It sounds as if the bed were a shelter where she can hide from the rest of the world and feel calm and peaceful. After that Victor comes from the kitchen with some food and feeds her. The writer develops the idea of a mother figure thus recalling the previous simile and makes the text even more cohesive by the comparison "as if I am a baby bird". The two lovers' relationship is depicted by the metaphor of the snake that swallows its tail. The figure conveys the idea of a circle, a symbol of perfection which is also meant as a cycle, where nothing changes and everything is still the same as if time were frozen.
