How you should arrange an argumentative text?

What is an argumentative text? = Essay

What makes a text an argumentative text? => Thesis

What help you develop the argumentations?

What is the function of the introduction and what is it made of?

  • Aim
  • Intentions
  • Thesis
  • Procedure

What is the body made of?

Example: pro and cons => opinion essay

quality and quantity data 

What is the difference between coherence and cohesion?

Coherence = logical thread

Cohesion = fluency 

What does the fluency depends on? => use of language

To undo = slacciare 

shipwreck = naufragio

To peel off = sbucciare, rimuovere, togliere

To fetch = portare, prendere

Firm → sensazione fisica

What does the narrator offer the reader? The paragraph set the atmosphere of the scene. They are in a close space → Victor’s bedroom

What kind of narrator? 1st person narrator + eyewitness + main character → Ray

Eyewitness => Robinson Crusoe

He wants to share her feelings

How is the sensual atmosphere provided? Half-light/ I feel/ I like/ firm

Il paragrafo è costruito in modo tale che il fatto che a lei piaccia il letto sia in posizione centrale.

Language of sense impression

Taste- Touch- Light 

Like a mother => calore della stanza + non comunica qualcosa di meccanico

Attribuisce a una maschio una funzione femminile => overlapping and going beyond genders

La sagoma diventa sensuale perché crea mistero.

Atmosfera simile a quella tra Gabriel e Gretta  in hotel (The Dead)

L’atmosfera è adatta alla situazione che il narratore sta creando → atmosfera ovattata 

Ritmo lento e attento

His bed => coerenza e coesione con il paragrafo precedente

Il letto diventa sineddoche di lui 

Letto = la parte per il tutto (= Victor)

Metonimia → materiale

Metafora → ideal + serve a dare un giudizio

What on the tray? Typical italian food => International way of drinking and eating

They are confined in a room that will be their world

He makes us a world => metaphor 

→ rapporto totalizzante

Ritornello => unità

Coherence => Like a mother + actions carried out by Victor

Serpente che si mangia la coda → cerchio => perfezione
