The title of this short story is Eveline. this Story is an extract  from the “Dubliners” by James Joyce.

Just reading the title you can understand that it is about and woman’s and girl’s life.

There are to settings:  the first one is Eveline’s house  in Dublin in particularly a room where she stays in front of a window.

The second setting which is more important because It is the real one, is Eveline’s mind. The reader has total access to Eveline’s thoughts  thanks to a narrator who adopts the point of view of the characters.

The main character is Eveline  a 19 years old girl who is an indeterminate person unable to take a decision. Her character is still during all this story.

She had troubled youth  that is a violent father and her mother's and her favourite brother’s death.

The narrative technique used  by the narrator is the technique of telling and the stream of conscious. The narrator uses an alliterative language  with verbs of perception as to see to highlight the point of view of the character.

The narrator is external and omniscient.

The main topic of the story Is Eveline’s hesitation in front of a decision,  which is also the conflict in her mind.

James  Joyce introduced  in this story the epiphany  which is an episode that bring back to Eveline’s mind a recommendation that her mother told to her before die, the epiphany is developed by a song that Eveline heard during the party.
