ENGLISH EXERCISES

Ex.1 page37

I was four years old and I was in kindergarten when I learned to read. It was really strange because, even if there was a little library, nobody used to read the books. One day, when I was learning how to write my name, I spontaneously learned how to read. From that day it became one of my favourite hobbies.

The year was 1969. I was twelve and I was in the classroom. The Science techer came in. We had a Science test that day I was getting ready to begin, when, all of a sudden the teacher told us to stand up.
“We are going to the lab” he said. We were
really surprised! Our Science teacher never changed his mind! But he said it was a special day, so we went to the lab.
there was a TV set in a lab. The teacher switched it on. Just in theme to see the firsan on the moon! When he switched on, astronaut Neil Armstrong was opening the hatch.
First, he descended a ladder and he started walking around. After that, astronaut Aldrin joined Armstrong on the surface, and we heard him describe the view with th phrase “Magnificent Desolation!”.
it was great, but
in the end the Science lesson finished and we had to return to our classroom. However, I’m so glad the teacher allowed us to participate in an event I’ll never forget. And, most important, that’s how I became interested in space travel.

Ex.6 page37

When I got on the bus, it was very crowded and I couldn’t find a seat.

It was almost one year ago, and I was going to school.

I usually took, and also take, the bus at 8:07 in the morning to going to school, with my two best friends.

It was a sunny day, besides this, it was a bad day anyway.

I was standing on the steps in front of the anterior bus door.

Unexpectedly my mobile phone fell off my pocket, and crashed on the ground.

The screen was broken.

I think it was like I broke a mirror, because I’m still paying for the seven years of bad luck.

Ex.7 page37

I was at the luna park and I was twelve. I was there with my friends, Giulia and Sara. It was a little bit cloudy and windy. We decided to try a new carousel and it seemed very dangerous, because of this I didn’t want to go on it.

In the middle of the route, suddenly, the carousel stopped, and the speaker announced a damage. We stopped at a very high level of the carousel, and I was a little bit scared.

One hour later, the carousel started working again, and we could go off.

At last it was over and I breathed a sigh of relief.
