Characterisation
The main female character, Sanem, is supposed to be the typical positive person, who lives in the clouds and dreams with opened eyes.
Since the first minutes of the first episode, you can understand she’s a great dreamer and she hopes to have a dream-like life without working seriously: in the very first scene, we can see her dancing and singing like life is easy and beautiful (spoiler it is not).
When her mother and sister come out with the joke, we can see a more determined side of Sanem: she wants to demonstrate to everybody that she’s strong and independent. The film director choose to make her react so bravely to show everybody that, even if she’s a day-dreamer, Sanem’s a tough person and she doesn’t give up easily. Her disgust to the combined marriage is a big shot of the director’s mind: it shows the needing of change of Islamic countries: women are not objects and they have the right to choose who to marry on their own, and Sanem’s reaction shows it perfectly (even thought that in the end it’s all a joke, the director got his own back with this move).
Sanem’s sister is her exact opposite: she live in the real life, has a good job and basically depends from no one. The opposition between the two characters is made to make the viewer hate Leyla and to glorify Sanem’s qualities. Even if they work together there’s always a bad relationship between the two of them and is underlines the opposition of the characters, that, besides being sisters, they have nothing else in common and hate each other.
Derain’s character is created to let the viewer discover new Sanem’s qualities, like her topographic memory, as seen in the 3 episode, and to anticipate the will-be relationship between Sanem and Jan. Derain’s also supposed to be a rival, not only in the relationship with Jan, but also in Sanem’s career: as far as Derain’s Sanem’s superior, she will have a lot of work to do and she’ll have big troubles with this job.
The male protagonist, Jan, is the concept of the perfect son and the guy every woman would like to have. Only his appearance announces that he’s most likely going to be in a relationship with Sanem: as we can see in the first episode, he’ a sportive man, a photographer, he’s brave and well looking. Characteristics that usually belong to the main male character of a romantic comedy. So the film director made Jan the “perfect” protagonist for the series.
Mr. Aziz is a big part of Jan’s life. They have a strong relationship and they get along well on most of the topic they discuss about, there’s no wonder his father prefers his on his brother.
Speaking of Emre, I think this character, besides being a traitor, is really well structured and very underrated: he’s the second son, with a great potential, a great style and he’s also very responsible, he’ been staying with his father while his brother (Jan) was wondering around the world, besides him being better at the company’s job and having the chance to become the boss. I think this puts on a good compare between them: on one side we have the good son, but who doesn’t apply even if having a great potential; on the other we have the less oriented one, but who tries harder and besides that isn’t getting considered.
2- From what I have seen up to now, I have made some suppositions: first of all, Mr. Aziz’s conditions are going to get worse: he did not worry enough about his pneumonia, and it could be worse than what they think.
Leyla’ character is going to have an upgrade: she has been the bad sister for too long now, she deserves something better and I think she’s going to have it (she might find a new job or maybe she’ll fall in love, something like that).
About Sanem and Jan, they’re obviously going to improve their relationship, and it may be not easy, as seen in the last part; they’ll surely talk more and they’ll have more time to know each other( as we can understand since Jan recognised Sanem’s smell in the last scene)
3- The first episode has the function to introduce the main characters in an general way, without entering too into details: the first part shows character’s aspects and their conditions, the second introduces many important characters and the place of work, the third introduces Mr. Aziz’s health problems, Sanem and Jan’s relationship and the main antagonist. The fourth part shows how Jan got into the part of the new boss, and how Emre and Sanem reacted to the events. The fifth part show’s part of Emre’s plan: using the new girl Sanem to steal some important files.
