In the present text I'm going to analyse the characterisation of Zeynep in the first episode of “MY HOME”. Zeynep is the protagonist of this real life story.

The scene starts with the image of Zeynep in a dark room. The setting is not particularly  focused but the director wants the background to look blurry. He creates a contrast between the sharp foreground of the woman and the setting. What catches the whatcher's eye is also the contrast between colours: the white shirt and the brown and grey background.

"The episode seems to suggest that one's destiny depends on the home one is born. First the mothers hold the pen and start writing.”, these are the first two sentences she says quoting some books.

The girl appears very confused, she is going to cry because she has shiny eyes. She needs answers to her questions, she feels doomed to her written destiny and it sounds as if  she has experienced of the pain in the past.

The scene changes and the director introduces music that creates an atmosphere of lack and he focusses the camera  on her poor house. The director makes the protagonist go back to her memories. By a flashback Zeynep describes her difficult childhood, made of privation and broken dreams. Her mother took care of her and her brother while her father was a rude man, he beat his wife and his children and he didn't allow Zeynep to study.

After a long period of illness her brother died because of lack of care. Therefore her brother brought all his dreams away with him, his books as well as his school. Over time there was a way to redeem the future of Zeynep. While her mother worked in a house of wealthy people, she learned to read and write with her mistress.

Zeynep's mother was forced to leave her daughter to the rich family in order to guarantee to her better teachings and a better future. The director uses sound effects to underline Zeynep's emotions and her mother's desperation when they were wrenched away from each other.

After a few years Zeynep started attending university and one day on returning home with her car she got lost and she found herself in the old neighborhood. Because of the joke of local children she was forced to stop because of a flat tyre.

The same children ran away, dropping bags to an elderly lady who, in a panic, began to look through the mud for the red lipstick she never separated from. On that moment, the girl tried to help the woman and she asked the people in the opposite repair shop for help. A girl and a boy came out to help her. The director adds a musical element to the protagonist's meeting with the young man. He raises curiousity and makes the audience expect something will happen between the two characters.
