In  winter, the Dangerous Sports Club holds a race 1on  the Alps, in which competitors ski 2along  a ski-slope 3on unusual objects. Competitors have raced sitting 4 onthe toilet, 5 on top ofa boat, and sitting 6 in front of a piano (while playing it!). A group of Oxford University students formed the club 7 in 1977 to add excitement to their lives. They invented sports and events that were dangerous, and also original and funny. Their first event was a tea party 8 on a small rock 9 in  the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. One member of the club crossed the sea 10 from England 11 to France 12 inside an inflatable kangaroo, and another flew a tiny plane 13 above London while dressed as a gorilla and playing the saxophone.

The Dangerous Sports Club’s greatest idea was bungee jumping. They got the idea from Pacific islanders, who dive 14 down  a high tower with a rope tied 15 around  their leg. Four members of the club did the first bungee jump in 1979.
