Sanem’s Characterisation In the present essay I am going to provide a characterisation of the female protagonist of the Turkish series Early Birds called Sanem. In order to provide an efficient analysis I am going to take into consideration the cinematographic strategies adopted by the director that makes the watcher understand a determinate impression on the character considered. The first aspect I am going to consider is how Sanem is presented: she is a nice looking girl who starts working as an assistant in a relevant company. She seems smart and willing. Her memory skills are showcased during one of the scenes when she repeats a telephone number by memory. An additional aspect is her fear to fail: in her last working experiences she does not succeed and therefore now is frightened by people’s judgment, in particular by her sister's opinion. Indeed her sister is working as an assistant of the director of finance and therefore can control all her actions. A relevant aspect of the entire series is underlined by the change of music in the background when Sanem walks near to the main male character whom name is Can. This change may signify a connection between the two protagonists, even though this has not been covered in the extract of the series under examination. Moreover, an interesting element presented is that Sanem prefers to refer her personal experiences to Ayhan: this is explainable by the fact that she does not trust her sister and therefore she does not represent a point of reference for herself. To conclude, it can be said that Sanem presents the essential features that makes her one of the main characters of the series.
