One small step for man
In 1962, US President JF Kennedy promised to put a man on the moon before 1970. It was seven more years before NASA figured out how to do it. In July 1969, when time was running out, three astronauts carried out the historic mission on board Apollo 11. American astronaut Neil Armstrong opened the hatch and became the first man to walk on the moon. In Houston, engineers who were on duty at mission control breathe a sigh of relief when they saw Armstrong step onto the moon. All over the world, people were watching on TV and they cheer as they heard Armstrong say his famous words: ‘That’s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.’ Armstrong came up with his famous words after landing on the moon.

• Space exploration is very expensive – we should solve problems on earth first such as poverty and starvation. — I don’t agree, because I think knowledge can’t have limits, even for money.
• The earth’s population is growing – we will need to live on another planet one day. — I agree, because I think it’s a great idea.
• We need space exploration to answer the big questions: are we alone? are there other forms of life out there? — I agree, because I want to know the answer to these questions.

The year was 1969. I was twelve and I was in the classroom. The Science teacher came in. We had a Science test that day and I was getting ready to begin, when all of a sudden the teacher told us to stand up. ‘We are going to the lab’ he said. We were really surprised! Our Science teacher never changed his mind! But he said it was a special day, so we went to the lab. There was a TV set in the lab. The teacher switched it on. Just in a time to see the first man on the moon! When he switched on, astronaut Neil Armstrong was opening the hatch. First, he descended a ladder and he started walking around. After that, astronaut Aldrin joined Armstrong on the surface, and we heard him describe the view with the phrase ‘Magnificent Desolation!’ It was great, but in the end the Science lesson finished and we had to return to our classroom. However, I’m so glad the teacher allowed us to participate in an event I’ll never forget. And, most important, that’s how I became interested in space travel.

Titanic
This romantic-dramatic film directed by James Cameron takes place in the Atlantic Ocean in 1912. It is based on a true story of two young guys who fall in love. However one night, the ship crashes into an iceberg and starts embarking water. Several hours later the ship ends up underwater and all the people are in a sea of icy water. Jack and Rose find a stone table, but they can’t both sit on it. So Jack only lets Rose go up and he remains in the water, but he cannot resist and dies frozen. Rose instead manages to escape. Leonardo DiCaprio plays the role of Jack Dawson, while Kate Winslet plays the role of Rose DeWitt Bukater. They are the central characters of this film. Their performances are brilliant, the special effects amazing, the filming and the music perfect. Of this film I really like the way it was made. I love that the real lady protagonist of this story tells it, but I’m sorry that Jack is dead.
