In the present text, I am going to analyze Sanem, the female protagonist of the Turkish TV series Early Bird.
I am going to proceed by illustrating the cinematographic techniques adopted by the director.
To start with, she is introduced by Ceycey an employee to Guliz another one. The choice made, is a clear sign of Sanem insecurity and disorientation, in fact, she can barely talk. All that she does is nodding and slightly smiling. Her insecurity is also expressed by her look: she wears no make-up and a dress whose color was dull. She is the opposite of the other female workers in the agency who are dressed in bright colors and wear eye-catching make-up. They demonstrate to be at their ease and to have control of the situation, also it seems to be a way to communicate their desire of having a better position.
Going on, her temper comes out by the interaction with other characters: she talks out loud, complains about the tough work, she is impulsive and muddling. This could be aspects difficult to stand, but surprisingly the spectator starts to fond of her. The reason? Because of the fact she is a normal person like all of us, who commits mistakes. We feel sympathy for her because reflects ourselves. Sanem is funny, from the way she moves to her facial expressions.
In conclusion, the music chosen for the scenes isn't random; to warn the spectator something is happening. For instance, when Sanem and Can ( the male main character) are about to encounter but they don't, it starts a soft melody, it starts the slow-motion and the voices seem to be muffled, so the spectator is forced to focus on the protagonists' movements. The spectator will probably feel frustration and the desire to meet each other.
