In the present text I am going to analyze the characterisation of Can as presented when he meets Mrs. Derain in the agency. The director wants the audience to focus the attention on the meeting between the characters, this is the reason why it is undelined by the soundtrack.

Mrs. Derain immediatly goes to Can, she appears very happy to see him and she shows the watcher her feelings for him. But on the other hand Can doesn't like her but he wants to not hurt her feelings. He appears very polite but also not interested in what she says because he goes beyond what other people think of him. He tries to change argument and whenever he has the opportunity he goes to his father's office leaving Mrs. Derain alone.
